 [[[[[[[Special Flash]]]]]]]]

Monthly Specials: By Late October, new stock of our popular Advantage Waterless Wash and Protectant, http://www.goclean.com/advantage.htm will be arriving. Advantage is being used creatively by people for far more than just cleaning and protecting automobiles, boats, RVs, motorcycles and airplanes. Since a surface is made slick by the polymers in Advantage they use it on their showers, glass doors and windows to prevent water spots. It can even be used to coat the inside of a toilet - it makes surfaces slick J

With new stock arriving soon, we need to move the balance of our old stock. One bottle normally $20 is now $18 or two for $34. I know you will want to take us up on our super savings offer. Until now a case of six bottles has been $90 a case or $15 a bottle. In order to help move this stock we have reduced it to cost plus 10% or $72 a case which is an unheard of $12 a bottle. Since we are offering the Advantage at this low of a price, it comes with only one spray bottle and sprayer.

My new cleaners will be arriving mid Oct. You will receive a special email when they come offering first time specials. You will absolutely love how they cut your cleaning time. Four ounce sample sizes will also be available for you to test. They will be $18 for all three with a $9 shipping fee.

[[[[[[[GREETINGS]]]]]]]]

During my entire 50 plus years of life I've always been around farming and gardening. My maternal grandparents farmed and my paternal grandparents had a large garden. Mom cans for the entire year from the vegetables she and Dad take out of their garden.

The first thing I wanted when the time came was a home with ample garden space. It didn't matter if the kitchen had cabinets or the toilet worked, I wanted garden space and plenty of it. A home e with a 40 x 40 foot garden came onto the market and we snatched it right away. I loved smelling the dirt as I dug that garden by hand. I doubled over laughing at our dog, Pepper, when he played tug of war with our green tomatoes off my first plants - yes the fence went up!

With the number of hours I now work plus being on the road doing trade shows there isn't much time left for gardening yet my fingers yearned for the dirt to settle in again under their nails. I had read several articles touting the wonders of using a great deal of dirt on top hay bails for growing many vegetables. The hay keeps the roots warmer on our cool Northwest nights so the veggies have a better chance of producing. Hay sounded like a great idea so after hauling those from our local feed store, then hand carting a full load of dirt and mixing in the fish bone etc, my plants went in the ground.

I've grown more than my share of broccoli, lettuce and tomatoes so I know what to expect from these plants. The plants started growing and producing and I was thrilled that the hay bales might work. Only what I didn't expect was to see lettuce leaves the size of beach balls and the roots of broccoli so large that they extended down the outside of the hay bales and into the ground. Some of those roots measure a quarter of an inch in diameter!

Not only are the roots that large but those roots are sprouting additional broccoli plants, which are producing delectable broccoli. I even had to stake the main plant to prevent it from falling over due to its weight.

It's challenging enough working around the broccoli to keep it from tumbling over but the cherry tomato plant I put in two rows over, which is more than 12 feet away mind you, has stems so long the ends of those stems are shaking hands with the leaves on the broccoli plants making it a bit tricky to both pick tomatoes and get to the broccoli. The main plant got so tall that it is now growing back down my 6' stake.

I sucker my tomato plants like Dad showed me so these are not suckers growing off this plant; they are stems from the main plant. Looking out one day last week at the hundreds of little red balls, I decided to keep the plant in the ground until Christmas. With the cherry tomatoes ripening they look like miniature Christmas balls all over the place and the plant is plenty large and wide enough to string lights. I decided this year, my tomato Christmas "tree" will be adorned not only with lights but wild bird seed, suet, and sunflower seeds for all my four legged and winged friends. Next I need to call the Guinness book of world records to come take a look. If these things weren't growing in my own backyard, I would never believe it could happen.

 [[[[[[[TIMELY TIPS:

If you are new to Moppins Mail and want to catch up the past several issues, they are available on my blog. http://amazingcleaningtips101.blogspot.com/.

In a recent Moppins Mail I told you that Woolite had changed their formula and it is no longer recommended by the wool yarn industry as safe for washing wool fabric or yarn. They now recommend Brown Sheep Shampoo. One reader, thank you so much Linda, emailed the company for information on where to purchase it. It is available at many yarn shops or Ellen Svoboda with the company responded:

"The shampoo is $3.90/16 oz. bottle plus shipping. The shipping will come to a little more than the shampoo. You can order any amount through me. We do not sell online.

You can call or email me.

So what do you do about those pans sitting in your sink that need cleaning? Let's take a look at some quick tips for cleaning cookware. With a few precautions, those pots and pans no longer need to clutter your sink.

Number one rule: no pan should be preheated on high heat. It may take 30 seconds longer to heat a pan on medium heat, but the lifespan of the pan will increase twofold and your sanity triple fold.

Number two rule: More house fires begin due to a pan being left on a burner especially those preheating or with food deep frying. Please be extra cautious this upcoming holiday season when we tend to forget about the stove when guests arrive.

Cleaning Copper: Tomato paste removes tarnish from copper cookware, kettles, trivets etc. Try pouring salt on a lemon sliced in half to clean copper. Toothpaste will work in a pinch. Toothpaste makes swift work polishing jewelry. I've found tomato paste works the best and fastest with copper.

Care of Cast-iron: If you are having stomach problems it may be coming from your cast iron cookware. Cast iron is very porous. That black is food bacteria that seep into the cookware. Well it seeps back out during cooking. If your stomach is sensitive or you have ulcers or acid reflux, your cast iron cookware may be the culprit.

Remove the black from the outside by spraying the bottom and sides with a product we will have by mid Oct. It's called TerraPlus and will take that black off without toxic chemicals. Place plastic down on a back porch or garage and cover with paper. Spray the pan, letting it set two to three hours. Wipe with newspaper and rinse with vinegar and water. Although you are not supposed to wash the inside of cast-iron I recommend it to remove what food bacteria you can. Wipe it down with olive oil when you finish.

How to clean stainless steel: Wash with dish soap to clean. Cameo found in the grocery along with the silver polishes is designed to clean keep stainless steel pans, bakeware or appliances looking new. Fine scratches can be covered up by rubbing with fine steel wool then buffing with a soft cloth. This is true for stoves, appliances and sinks. They can be shined by rubbing with white vinegar. Never use bleach on stainless steel because it leaves stains.

Coated cookware. If food is stuck simmer water in the pan with a bit of dish washer detergent and a dash of salt. Clean with hot water and mild detergent. Never use high heat when cooking with coated cookware.

Loose your marbles? Try looking in the bottom of your double boiler or under your vegetable steamer. If they are hidden there, it's because they want to remind you that the water in the pot is getting low by rattling around.

[[[[[[[SHORT CLIPS: "I hope you have a better day than you expect." This was said to me by a gas station attendant in Junction City, Or. I still marvel at how good that one sentence has made me feel ever since it was said. I've repeated it to others and they have all reacted in like. I hope you enjoy making someone else's day as pleasant as this kind man made mine J

Grins,
