 [[[[[[[GREETINGS]]]]]]]]

Pictures and memories poured from the pages of my son's baby book as I tripped back in time looking for information for my one month old grandson. Among the memorabilia was an article written in 1976. "At Wit's End" featured another long enduring article by my most favorite author, Erma Bombeck.

As her article once again unfolded I realized her wisdom applied to myself more than it did Jason. One of my Indian elders several years ago asked me if I loved my son and I replied "Of course I love him - he is the world to me." He replied "How can you love your son, when you don't love yourself?" I was not loving myself enough to discipline myself into good health through diet and exercise, forgiving myself for my mistakes or seeing myself as worthy of anyone's love. Erma's article emanates the importance of discipline for our children but it applies to we adults as well.

Jason this article is not only for you to leave as a heritage for my grandchildren but it is also a reminder for the changes I yet need to make in my own life. The diet and exercise have been mastered but so much yet remains to be nurtured and healed. Bless you Erma for a wisdom that stays solid through the decades.

"Love, Mother's Style" by Erma Bombeck 1976 from the "At Wit's End."

"Your don't love me!" How many times have your kids laid that one on you? And how many times have you, as a parent, resisted the urge to tell them how much. Someday, when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a mother, I'll tell them.

I loved you enough to bug you about where you were going, with whom and what time you would get home.

I loved you enough to insist you buy a bike with your own money when we could afford it and you couldn't.

I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover your handpicked friend was a creep.

I loved you enough to make you return a Milky Way with a bit out of it to a drug store and confess, "I stole this."

I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your bedroom, a job that would have taken me 15 minutes.

I loved you enough to say, "Yes, you can go to Disney World on Mother's Day."

I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment, disgust and tears in my eyes.

I loved you enough to not make excuses for your lack of respect or your bad manners.

I loved you enough to admit I was wrong and ask your forgiveness.

I loved you enough to ignore "what every other mother" did or said.

I loved you enough to let you stumble, fall, hurt and fail.

I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your own actions, at ages 5, 6 10 or 16.

I loved you enough to figure you would lie about the party having a chaperone, but forgive you for it.after discovering I was right.

I loved you enough to shove you off my lap, let go of your hand, be mute to your pleas and insensitive to your demands. so that you had to stand alone.

I loved you enough to accept you for what you are, not what I wanted you to be.

But most of all, I loved you enough to say no when you hated me for it. That was the hardest part of all.

 [[[[[[[TIMELY TIPS:

If you are new to Moppins Mail and want to catch up the past several issues, they are available on my blog. http://amazingcleaningtips101.blogspot.com/, which is updated several times a week so be sure to bookmark the spot.

Hardly a week passes that I'm not questioned about the selection of a vacuum cleaner. Personally, I have found the Miele canister to be an excellent vacuum. I have used dozens of vacuums in years of professionally cleaning homes and am very pleased with the Meile. It's expensive but has done a wonderful job.

On a side note: my New CleanEz is proving to do an excellent job removing all kinds of stains from carpet. The new trick at rest stops is to drop fresh gum at your car door. Yes I stepped in it smearing it all over the carpet of my brand new truck. CleanEz removed the gum in a minute and I was on my way.

Here is an article from the Carpet and Rug Institute on selection of a vacuum cleaner. Their website also contains a list of their Green Label approved vacuums. Interestingly enough Eureka vacuums are not included in the list.

"High performance vacuum cleaners have a significant impact on improved indoor air quality (IAQ). At the same time, vacuums that effectively remove and contain soil while keeping the carpet looking good will help carpets last longer. So, ultimately, better performing vacuums provide a greater return on your investment and ensure a healthier indoor environment.

Recognizing the need to identify superior cleaning equipment, CRI introduced its Green Label Testing Program for vacuum cleaners in 2000. This program tests two general categories of vacuums: a) general purpose vacuums approved for use on all conventional carpet styles; and b) vacuums specifically approved for use on carpet with a low pile, or surface texture, measuring approximately 1/4 inch or less.

To qualify for the Green Label, these vacuums must go through a stringent testing process that measures three key performance factors:

a.. Soil Removal - The vacuum must remove a set quantity of soil from carpet in four passes
b.. Dust Containment - The vacuum must not release more than 100 micrograms of dust particles per cubic meter of air. This protocol evaluates the total amount of dust particles released by the brush rolls, through the filtration bag and via any air leaks from the system, and is more stringent than the National Ambient Air Quality Standards
c.. Carpet Appearance Retention - The vacuum should not affect the appearance of the carpet more than a one-step change based on one year of normal vacuum use
Vacuums meeting the above protocols, which have been peer reviewed by scientists, can display the CRI Green Label on packaging, merchandising displays and on the machine itself. Since the launch of this test in 2000, CRI has certified more than one hundred machines in the following categories: backpacks, canisters, central systems, and uprights.

Ultimately, proper carpet maintenance is assured and made significantly easier with high quality machines that are CRI Green Label-certified. This important testing program has raised the bar for all vacuum cleaners on the market, resulting in cleaner, longer-lasting carpet and improved IAQ."

[[[[[[[SHORT CLIPS: From "The Precious Present by Spencer Joshnon, MD "As long as I continue to stay in the present, I am happy forever:

Because forever is always the present. The present is simply who I am just the way I am right now. And it is precious. I am precious. I am the precious present."
