Monthly Specials:
If you haven't stopped in for gas in the last few days, it has gone up 5 to 10 cents a gallon since last week. Some areas will see $5 a gallon by mid summer while the rest of us will be chucking out $4 plus a gallon. That is over $50 for most people to fill their vehicles, which is double last year's prices.
There is hope with our FiltaKleen. The pint treats 1200 gallons of gas. So for less than 50 cents per tank of gas or diesel, you will add between 2 and 3 MPG depending on the size of your engine. Larger engines like motorhomes and semi-truck increase around one-half MPG. At $4 a gallon it will save you a minimum of $500 per bottle based on 18MPG. The cost of this pint is only $43 so you will be saving $457 at the gas pump. Plus it conditions your engine and keeps your fuel clean if it sets for any length of time. This is especially important for RVs, show cars or boats that may set for periods of time.
Once again Mary Moppins responded when many of her customers asked for a product to remove swirl marks on RVs and vehicles. Our brand new Swirl Remover $24.95 is not yet on our website. People have been very pleased with the results they have obtained with the Swirl Remover. Coupled with our Advantage you will have a show stopping shine on any vehicle, boat, RV, airplane, motorcycle and they are excellent for semi-trucks as well.
To order, go to our towels and order the Swifter Towels normally $1.95 and order them. Under the comment section put that you wish to order the Swirl Remover. The amount on your order will be changed but you will receive the two Swifter towels for free as an introductory offer. This is a one time only offer and will last only through next week. But I have an even greater offer. Order both the Advantage and The Swirl Remover not only will you receive the Swifter towels but also a $5 discount. Don't forget our AlumiBrite for all your metal surfaces. It even removes oxidation from brass plated faucets and leaves your wheels shining!
[[[[[[[GREETINGS]]]]]]]]
I love falling in love. The newness, the excitement the invigorating moment when the love of your life looks you in the eyes gives you an armful of hugs and says "I love you Grandma." Each and every hug, kiss, pat on the cheek or gooey hand you hold is even more precious than the one before and you fall in love with this grandchild all over again.
Never, though, have I seen a three year old captivate a group of young boys like Gracie did when I visited my family two weeks ago. My son works as an intake counselor for a program that places at risk youth into various programs in Kansas City. He has applied for grant money to transfer some of these kids into a farm program to give them some roots and a chance to turn their lives around.
While waiting for the grant money, Jason placed an ad on Craig's list searching for someone to donate property. A couple who needed help with their horse farm answered the ad. Although they could not donate the farm they could give Jason a jump start by having the boys out to help them clean horse stalls, groom the horses, build decks etc.
So out we headed with these 8 boys, my grandchildren and a few others. These boys, typical of at risk youth, immediately started petting the horses etc to keep from having to pick up a rake to clean the stalls. I had started cleaning a stall and was getting ready to take them to task for dawdling until my granddaughter stepped up to them with hands on her hips and said "no working, no riding."
How she knew they could not ride until they got those horses groomed and the stalls cleaned I'll never know but she said those four words like a true horse woman - firmly and with the attitude that she expected them to mind. Her position was weakened by the fact that her feet were firmly planted in stuff that didn't smell so good but she didn't flinch. Her eyes never lost contact with those boys and she expected them to mind and mind they did. With rakes and shovels in hand we cleaned stall after stall.
So I fell even more deeply in love with this adorable little girl. When I held her five month old brother for the first time the bond between the two of us nudged closer together as we sang songs to Josh. The eight boys joined us and you could feel those "toughened" hearts melting as the delightful giggles of a three year old wore down their outer shells.
It's no wonder God tells us to be like little children - there is a mighty power in the sweetness of a young child. Couple that with the healing power of a horse and there is no better medicine for a troubled youth.
[[[[[[[TIMELY TIPS:
If you are new to Moppins Mail and want to catch up the past several issues, they are available on my blog. http://amazingcleaningtips101.blogspot.com/, which is updated several times a week so be sure to bookmark the spot.
The tornado and horrible storms hit the Midwest while I was visiting my family. Those storms brought another house cleaning chore to mind and one that I need to bring current as well.
So what would happen if you heard a tornado warning or listening to the news were told to evacuate? Your home and all your possessions are about to be demolished - everything gone in minutes. You have time to take only a few things. What will you grab?
You best have your important papers handy and in one spot so you can grab them and head out the door.
Here is a list of things to keep in this spot:
1) Pictures of every item in your home - don't you love those digital cameras? Take pictures of everything, computers, jewelry, cars, collections like baseball cards, appliances, tools, computers everything you own needs to be on film including an overall picture of your closets, cabinets etc.
Now copy those pictures to your computer and save that to a separate CD. Then start by placing one picture per page into a folder titled Household items or whatever is best for you. On that page list when you purchased the item, how much you paid for it and the item name.
2) Receipts for everything that is a major purchase. Appliances, computers, cameras, furniture tools, locate all the receipts you can. Beginning today keep all receipts for major purchases in one place where you can grab them easily.
3) Your insurance papers and any and all important documents like birth certificates, SSN papers, CDs or stocks you may own, a copy of your last pay stub, passports, a few checks from your bank and a couple of withdrawal stubs, a copy of one statement from each of your credit cards you have and any other document that will give you the information you need to start your life again.
Take a copy of your drivers license front and back and keep it there as well along with a copy of your insurance cards and your credit cards front and back. These items will help clear your identity.
Make out a living will along with a regular will or instructions on how to settle your estate should something happen to you.
4) Start a spread sheet folder with the names of all your banks, CDs you own, your stocks who they are with and the amounts, when you purchased them and when they are due if they are bonds along with the name and number of your broker. Also list all your credit cards, who issued them, the amount owed and a phone number to call if something goes wrong. This is an excellent idea anyway in case your billfold is stolen.
Add to that the name and phone number of your insurance agent and who to call in case of emergency. Include any hospital phone number, your doctor, dentist and all pertinent phone numbers - family members included. When you are in the middle of a catastrophe it is easy to forget your own phone number let alone that of family. Don't assume you will remember - trust me you won't. I've been through both a hurricane and a tornado. You will not remember.
5) I have never read where experts advise this but after hurricane Katrina I have also included pieces of gold and silver. Paper money can get wet and be of little or no use. So if you want to put some paper money in with this information make sure it's in a vacuum packed bag so it can't get wet. Many of the Katrina victims could not get access to their bank accounts because their bank had been demolished. Keep enough money there to get you by for about a month.
Now most important, make a copy of this CD and send it to a family member, preferably whoever would be the executor of your estate. This should not go to someone in your own home town as their home may be destroyed as well. If your executor is in your home town, then forward a second copy to a family member you trust but who is living out of town. Even more importantly print out a copy to send to these people along with a copy for you to keep. You will not be able to get access to your computer to read the document. Again vacuum pack this document along with the CD so they won't get wet.
