[[[[[[[Special Flash]]]]]]]]
Monthly Specials:
PLEASE NOTE: Prices for nearly 50% of Mary Moppins products will be going up Mid November. The high cost of fuel has led to a record 20% increase of our cost of goods this year, which is well above the usual 5 to 10% increase. Unfortunately this means increasing our suggested retail cost. Mop products will see a $3 to $4 per item increase and others items such as towels, cleaners and accessories will be increased as well. Freight charges will also be going up in early Jan.
November is a wonderful time for cleaning windows to get them ready for the holiday season. You cannot beat my Benya for streak free perfect window every time. It is also one of the few products safe enough to use on Granite and Marble. Dilute it 1 to 1 with distilled water. It is more effective full strength. The quart size is usually $15.95. It is on sale for only $12. The gallon normally $48 - which is the equivalent of buying 4 quarts of Benya for the price of 3 is on sale for $40.00, an excellent price for this product.
The order form will show standard pricing but the cost will be changed when you order. This is not for everyone just newsletter recipients.
[[[[[[[GREETINGS]]]]]]]]
This is another of my greetings where I'm going to divert from my usual message. This message contains information I felt you might want to know.
First of all the "do not call" is about to expire. Keep those folks at bay by reregistering your phone numbers at www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx. Anyone know how to get political campainers to use this list? They are far worse than solicitation calls. I would love to see legislation passed requiring them to use it.
Next is information I learned at our monthly Celiac meeting. This is a support group for those of us whose bodies revolt when we come in contact with glueton found in wheat, barley, rye etc. At our last meeting a fireman talked to us about emergency situations and how to communicate vital information even when we are unconscious. It is valuable information for everyone.
He talked about preparation like I talk about prevention. Take steps ahead of time so you are well protected in an emergency by filling out a sheet of paper for each member of the household. Seal it in an envelope and mark the envelope "FOR EMERGENCY PERSONNEL" Tape it to the refrigerator as this is one of the first place emergency personnel look for information. Tuck another copy in your car glove box, another in the pack of your bicycle, motorcycle anything you ride, drive or get around in including inside your purse or wallet.
Having this information at finger tip will save the emergency personnel valuable time searching for your identity, contact information etc. The emergency tech will take this sheet to the hospital in the ambulance and read your information to the hospital in transit. Your doctor can be called and they will have advanced notice of all your medical problems. That sheet is then given to the emergency room nurse.
He further stated that although a spouse may be home, they generally don't have full recall during emergencies and will always forget about diet restrictions or medications you take.
Here is the information to put down on paper. Update it whenever anything changes like your medication. Make a master sheet and save it to your computer. It includes:
Name:
Address:
Home Phone number and cell phone number:
Birthdate and Social Security Number - (Thoughts from Mary) - I do not agree in leaving your social security number on this paper. If that paper gets into the wrong hands, it could cause identity problems.
Physician
Pharmacy
Hospital preference
Name and phone number of two contacts in an emergency. Make sure one is a relative who has authority to make a medical decision for you. One of the people needs to know relatives or close friends to contact.
Normal pulse rate, normal blood sugar and normal blood pressure. This is so they can quickly tell the level of distress you are experiencing.
Medical conditions - be specific as to how long you have had each problem, if it's being treated and how.
Medications you are taking including vitamins and supplements
Allergies to medicines
Include a separate sheet with your advanced directives. Here is a website with a living will and advanced directives forms. http://www.uslivingwillregistry.com/forms.shtm. The site has up to date information and you can download forms by state.
[[[[[[[TIMELY TIPS:
New to Moppins Mail? Then catch up the past issues. They are available on my blog. http://amazingcleaningtips101.blogspot.com/. Remember to check my blog weekly for updates and useful tips you may never need J
If you glazed over the Monthly Specials section, you may want to go back and read that section. Stock for next year is on its way here. Price increases are beyond any I have ever had so they are going up Mid-November and freight will increase in early January.
Let's finish putting together that list of things to get done now for the holidays. For those of you new to my newsletter - thank you for joining - you will find other newsletters on my blog. You can reach it from my front page www.goclean.com on the right hand column.
1) Wash the bedsheets and flip the mattress in any spare bedroom that will be used by guests. This is the time to pull the bed and dressers out in those rooms to thoroughly vacuum under and behind them as well as dust the baseboards. If a room is not to be used during the holidays clean it thoroughly then shut the door.
2) Bring together all the stain removal products you may need into one spot. Include:
A fresh bottle or two of hydrogen peroxide for red wine or punch stains
A bottle of Nature's Miracle for any pet stains or accidents
Foaming shaving cream for stains on fabric furniture
Our CleanEz for most food stains
Make sure you have a hair dryer and all white paper towels for removing candle wax. There are on candle wax preventions tips on my website.
Be sure you print out my Stain Removal Guide from my website. http://www.goclean.com/stainremovalguide.htm. For an even better guide pick up a copy of my book "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cleaning" from my website or most bookstores. It is one of the most complete stain removal guides around plus it has a speed cleaning guide that will zip you through any cleaning chore fast!
3) Now comes the tough but essential part to give you added time during the holidays. Make a commitment to run errands nor more than twice a week. It takes at least 30 to 40 minutes just driving to and from a store. Keep spare tape, paper, glue, screwdrivers and pliers within easy reach.
4) Buy a large size carpet sample to place at your front door. Carpet does a great job cleaning the bottom of shoes. Then put a non rubber backed throw rug just inside the door to catch what the carpet sample missed. Rubber backed throw rugs leave yellow stains on surfaces especially when they get wet. Make sure the throw rug is light in color otherwise the dye will seep into your carpet. Hold the throw rug in place with non skid padding you find in most department stores. It should not yellow like the rubbed backing on rugs.
5) Get extra spray bottles from the hardware store and fill them with additional cleaners like Clean Ez that you use as an all purpose cleaner, our Benya or your window cleaner or heavy duty cleaner like Terra Plus. Keep these bottles filled so when messes arrive along with guests time is not wasted filling bottles.
6) Purchase any napkins, paper cups, plastic silver ware paper table cloths etc you need for the entire holiday season. Stock up early on non perishable items to cut down shopping time later. Remember the lists I recommended writing out early? Get that list written and go shopping. This is also the time to shop for gifts for the baby sitter, house cleaner, children's teachers etc. Wrap them so they are ready to go.
